We're off to London for next Tuesday's INSIGHT 2010 event, the International Legal Technology Association's (ILTA) 5th annual legal IT thought leadership meeting in the UK. INSIGHT is an all day event (9am-4:30pm sessions, 4:30-6:30pm reception) drawing nearly 200 law firm and law department professionals convened to hear from leading technologists and business strategists, from the UK and the US. This year, INSIGHT features 27 reputable speakers sharing their expertise on various topics focused on the overall theme "2020 Foresight: The future of legal IT".
No ILTA event would be complete without the loyal support and partnership from the legal technology vendor community and INSIGHT 2010 is no exception. 29 vendors have given their support consisting of a mix of UK-based companies and US organizations with European offices spanning numerous application & service areas including practice management, time & billing, document management, compliance, training, service desk outsourcing, compliance, risk management and IT/technology consulting. Also, to our knowledge, NO e-discovery/litigation support companies are signed up - simply a reflection of the moderate interest/importance of "e-disclosure" outside the US or something bigger?
There are 8 INSIGHT sessions offered via 2 concurrent educational tracks including:
- The Evolution of Office
- Traversing the Generation Divide
- Business Processes (BPM, BPA and BI)
- The Future of the Traditional Desktop
- 21st Century Collaboration
- The Electronic Working in the RCJ
- Electronic Evidence – Preservation to Production
- Presentation by LITIG on their Review of Case and Matter Management Systems
All of these sessions are bound to spark discussion and engage the delegates. We are particularly looking forward to the keynote address by David Morley, a Senior Partner at Allen & Overy LLP, who will launch INSIGHT 2010 with a thought-provoking look at the power of IT to transform the legal profession. The brochure mentions that "... IT can create magic for clients without the smoke and mirrors" so hopefully we'll walk away charmed.
Like all ILTA events we have been involved with over the past decade, INSIGHT pulls together an incredibly talented roster of volunteers who give their time and energy to assemble such a top notch program. INSIGHT 2010's Advisory Planning Committee consists of...
- Janet Day - EVENT CHAIR (Director of Technology and Infrastructure Services - Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP)
- Andrew Dey (Director, Legal Operations - Barclays Legal)
- Damien Behan (IT Director - Brodies LLP)
- Nigel Blackwood (IT Director - Wragge & Co LLP)
- Paul Domnick (CIO - Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer)
- Joy Heath Rush (Enterprise Multimedia Services Manager - Sidley Austin LLP)
- Chuck Henrich (Developer/Architect - Matheson Ormsby Prentice)
- Jonathan Maas (Assistant Director - Ernst & Young's Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services)
- Sue Hall (Director of Information Systems & Strategy - Linklaters LLP)
As of this post, there are still a few delegate spots left for INSIGHT 2010 (to be held 27 April at the Grange St Paul’s Hotel in London). There is no fee for law firm and law department professionals to attend, but space is limited. E-mail Peggy Wechsler, ILTA's Program Director peggy@ILTAnet.org if you are interested in attending next Tuesday.
